What does the R.R. Foil Research Center do?
The R.R. Foil Research center supports the research scientists in all phases of row crop agriculture. They furnish labor and equipment for land preparation, soil sampling and fertilizer application, pesticide applications and harvesting. Specialized equipment is available to collect yield data from the research plots as well as irrigation.
Is row crop agriculture all that is researched at the Foil Research Center?
No, there is an extensive turf grass research area for working with variety selections, weed and insect controls, fertilization research and various other research projects associated with the turf grass industry.
The center also assists with other research projects associated with several specialty crops such as squash, sweet potatoes, peanuts, pumpkins, tomatoes, green beans, kenaf and blackberries.
Does the center work with ornamentals?
We have an extensive selection of roses on display for public viewing at the Veteran's Memorial Rose Garden at the main entrance to the farm as well as a variety of other ornamentals.
Does the center offer any other services?
Yes, there is a fully functional Motor Pool that does repair and maintenance on university equipment and vehicles. There is also a crew that does restoration and reclamation of heavy equipment. |
